Nice to meet you.
My name is Lis! I’m an optimist at heart who loves bold compositions and playful experimentations. I believe design is powerful in its ability to connect people. My design philosophy: stay curious!
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I have a deep appreciation for the natural world that shaped my interest in the arts. I studied design at a small liberal arts program in Southern California at the University of Redlands, where my professors encouraged me to learn as many design disciplines and approaches as I could. Exploring analog design practices like letterpress and book-making honed the industry-standard skillsets I was building at the same time. The laborious process of hand-setting lines of type taught me to be precise and efficient when formatting digital designs, and book-making taught me the importance of optimizing my designs for production— whether I’m handing off to a printer or a web developer.
I’ve worked as a graphic design intern at Esri, a geographic information software company that sets GIS industry standards. There, I worked on web graphics, trade-show displays, and signage for their biggest annual event: the Esri User Conference. This experience was so valuable to me as a young designer, teaching me how to work efficiently on multiple projects and how to utilize a brand’s design system effectively.
At University of Idaho, I’ve developed my design skillset by delving into production design, print production and creative project management. Being a part of this small, close-knit team has given me the opportunity to shape and expand my role in Printing Services to continuously learn and apply new skillsets. My favorite part of this role (and being a designer in general) is that I always have an opportunity to learn a new skill.
