Growing up, I loved visiting my grandparents’ house and stealing away to read the giant volume of Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales that was kept on a shelf in my mother’s childhood room. In this redesign of one of the classic fairytales that I grew up reading, the short and tragic story of The Little Match Girl gets a contemporary update with deep, saturated blues that evoke the pathos of this short tale.
